Your leading and trusted manufacturer of auto Engine Connector.

If you want to avoid potential wiring issues caused by the high – temperature and vibration in the engine compartment, ensuring stable and reliable vehicle electronic control signals and long – term trouble – free operation, then CV’s engine connectors are the solution for you.

At high temperatures, oil mist volatilizes from engine oil and flows to spark plugs. The mixture of oil and water indirectly triggers electrochemical corrosion, resulting in rapid corrosion and oxidation of terminal pins.

To address these issues, CV uses engineering automotive – grade PBT + glass fiber modified plastic material with a UL94 V – 0 flame – retardant rating, which can withstand a high temperature of 120°C. It is equipped with an EPDM rubber sealing ring to isolate the intrusion of engine oil and water vapor. The terminals are made of phosphor bronze base material with a gold – plated coating, and are combined with a TPA secondary locking structure to stably maintain the contact pressure. This fundamentally eliminates vibration – induced loose connections, pin oxidation, and pin withdrawal, firmly ensuring the continuous and stable transmission of the engine’s main control signals.

For the production of connector housings, CV uses constant-temperature injection molding equipment, with the interface edges finely ground and polished to ensure tight and wobble-free mating between male and female connectors; all dimensions are individually inspected before buckle assembly to secure precise sizes and avoid errors. The housings are made of special high-temperature resistant engineering materials that will not deform even in the high-temperature environment of engine compartments, and they are also treated with multi-layer protection featuring UL94 V0 flame retardancy, waterproof sealing as well as impact and abrasion resistance, which can extend the service life of vehicle wiring connectors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

If you encounter any issues with engine connectors, feel free to contact us for solutions.

What causes engine connectors to fill with engine oil and trigger frequent vehicle fault codes?

Aged sealing gaskets on engine oil pressure and temperature sensors will cause oil seepage. Engine oil slowly creeps through gaps in wiring jackets and invades ECU and main engine connectors. Oil residue on metal pins disturbs circuit signals and creates minor short circuits, triggering random multiple fault codes on vehicles. In severe cases, precision electronic parts including sensors and ECUs will burn out. This issue occurs frequently on Subaru Impreza and Outback, especially models equipped with CVT transmissions.

How to prevent engine connector damage caused by oil leakage?

  1. Regularly inspect sealing gaskets of oil pressure & oil temperature sensors. Replace them immediately once hardening or oil seepage is found.
  2. Choose connectors equipped with oil-resistant EPDM gaskets when replacing engine plugs to block oil penetration.
  3. Clean up oil spills on wiring connectors right away during engine bay maintenance or oil changes.

Is oil intrusion into connectors a common defect for CVT vehicles?

Yes, it is a frequent inherent issue of such models. Sensors around CVT transmissions are densely arranged. Long-term high-temperature operation accelerates seal aging and oil seepage. Engine oil easily flows along wiring into ECU and TCU connectors, making this a very common repair case in auto shops.

What is the correct cleaning procedure for temporary treatment when oil enters connectors?

  1. Disconnect the car battery first to prevent short circuits and component burnout during cleaning.
  2. Fully unplug the faulty connector, then thoroughly flush the pins and inner cavity with dedicated electronic contact cleaner.
  3. Repeatedly plug and unplug the connector to wash away residual oil stains inside gaps, then leave it to air-dry completely.
  4. Clear vehicle fault codes and take a test drive to check if the fault recurs.

Note: Frequent plugging and unplugging will wear pins and latches. This method is only for temporary emergency use and cannot completely fix the root fault.

How many repair solutions are there for heavily oil-contaminated connectors with corroded blackened pins?

  1. Slight corrosion & oil contamination: Clean the pins, bind and fasten the plug tightly to ensure firm pin contact for temporary use.
  2. Moderate damage: Replace only the corroded metal terminals and oil-resistant waterproof sealing gaskets, keep the original vehicle wiring harness intact.
  3. Severe ablation & short circuit: Replace the entire brand-new engine connector assembly to eliminate risks of circuit short circuit.
  4. If the situation is particularly serious, please inform us immediately so that we can replace your connector for you.

What’s the principle behind unstable ignition, power jerking, and failure to connect the diagnostic scanner when engine oil seeps into connectors?

Engine oil has weak electrical conductivity, which creates leakage current between adjacent pins and distorts signal transmission. When driving with alternating hot and cold temperatures, oil becomes more fluid, leading to intermittent faults. Mild symptoms include abnormal ignition and power shaking. In severe cases, the ECU or transmission control unit will burn out directly, resulting in extremely high repair costs.

What does engine coolant do?

Coolant, also known as antifreeze, is the circulating medium for the engine cooling system with four core functions:

1.Heat dissipation & temperature reduction: It carries away high heat generated by engine combustion to prevent cylinder scoring and engine overheating failure.

2.Freeze & expansion resistance: It won’t freeze under low temperatures, avoiding cracking of engine blocks, radiators and hoses caused by ice expansion.

3.Corrosion & scale prevention: It protects aluminum engine blocks, water pumps and radiators, and stops water scale from clogging cooling passages.

4.Cabin heating supply: The vehicle’s winter heater relies on residual heat from circulating coolant.

How to distinguish whether the root fault is engine mechanical failure or damaged oil pressure sensor connector?

Coolant, also known

  1. Connect an external mechanical oil pressure gauge to measure the actual engine oil pressure and confirm if the oil pressure is truly lost.
  2. If the measured oil pressure reads zero with abnormal engine noise, it indicates mechanical faults such as oil pump failure or bearing wear. The vehicle needs to be towed for full engine disassembly and overhaul.
  3. If the measured oil pressure value is normal while only the dashboard triggers an alarm, unplug the oil pressure sensor connector to check for pin corrosion, broken wiring or ground short circuits. Clean or replace the complete sensor connector to fix false signal alerts.

What dashboard abnormalities will occur when the oil pressure sensor connector fails?

Short circuit to ground, oxidation or broken wires on connector pins lead to two types of reading deviations:

  1. Abnormal connector grounding: The dashboard continuously shows zero oil pressure, and the fault warning light stays illuminated.
  2. Harness open circuit: The dashboard constantly displays full-scale oil pressure, with abnormal triggering of the warning lamp.

Neither of these two faults changes the actual engine oil supply pressure, and no mechanical abnormal noises will be produced.

Both oil temperature warning lights turn on simultaneously with obvious abnormal engine noise, and severe oil contamination is visible on the sensor connector next to the oil filter. What is the root cause?

1.Mechanical hardware failure (Critical High Risk)
Symptoms include rattling abnormal engine noise and zero oil pressure reading. This is most likely caused by oil pump failure, crankshaft bearing wear, or extremely low engine oil volume. Such hardware damage triggers both warning lights at once. Every second the engine runs without normal oil pressure will cause irreversible wear to internal components. Do NOT start or drive the vehicle any further.

  1. Connector electrical fault (Secondary inducing factor)
Aged pins, abnormal grounding or oil corrosion on the oil pressure sensor connector lead to distorted dashboard readings and false oil pressure fault alerts. However, damaged connectors only interfere with signal output; they cannot cause total loss of oil pressure or mechanical abnormal noise from the engine.
