What is the composition of the chassis wiring harness?
It is mainly composed of wires, external insulating materials, sheath materials and auxiliary parts。
Wires are mainly used to transmit point signals and electrical energy. We usually use multi-strand fine copper wires, which can effectively prevent the problem of copper wire breakage caused by the vibration of the car when driving on uneven roads, and fine copper wires have excellent flexibility.


External insulation protection materials mainly serve to safeguard the circuits located inside and prevent the influence caused by external conditions. The commonly used materials include PVC, XLPE, TPU, C and CPE。
We know that polyvinyl chloride (pvc) can withstand temporary temperatures ranging from -40 to 80 degrees Celsius and continuous temperatures hovering between -40 and 60 degrees Celsius. Compared with other materials, its oil resistance and low-temperature resistance are slightly inferior. Overall, it has relatively good flame retardancy, good flexibility, and a low price.
Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) : It can reach 125°C to 150°C, fully demonstrating the material’s excellent heat resistance. Compared with PVC material, its wear resistance and oil resistance are slightly improved. It is one of the most suitable insulating materials for chassis wiring harnesses。
Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) : Compared with the first two materials, its wear resistance is higher than that of PVC and XLPE, while other aspects such as oil resistance and hydrolysis resistance are roughly the same.
